A former high school English teacher, Hugh spent six years as a civilian journalist for the U.S. Army in Stuttgart, Germany. During his tenure as editor of The Citizen newspaper, he was twice selected as the Army's top civilian journalist in Europe, and the paper earned the prestigious Thomas Jefferson award in 2005 as the premiere tabloid-format publication in the entire Department of Defense.
